Securing clip used in internal combustion engine valve gear

The safety securing system is for a tappet bearing on a valve-gear rocker arm in an internal combustion engine. The tappet (3) has a rounded part-spherical end (4) which engages in a socket (2) in the end one of the rocker arm. There is a spring clip (8) which engages in a groove (7) in the neck at the end of the tappet. There are two arms (13) which engage on either side of the neck and end in folded-over stop members (15). The other ends of the side arms are joined together to form a wide band (14) which has an inward fold (16) pressing against the underside of the rocker arm and which folds over the top of the arm. The top portion fits closely against the arm.
