Sealing element

The sealing element has a shaft (1) for insertion in holes to be sealed, with a plate-shaped head (22) and a sealing ring (13) or shell of a material which foams when heated. There may be a restricting device for the foamed sealing ring or shell at a set clearance from the head. This device spreads out after insertion of the shaft through the hole. The shaft may have elements (3,4) to grip behind the hole after insertion. The restricting device may consist of foil, connected at least at the edge to the grip elements.
