Injection moulding tool for shoe soles with elastic insert near heel

A forming tool for synthetic shoe soles has an injection moulding cavity with side walls (6) which can be hinged open to a V-shape. The end opposite the joint (9) is closed by an elastic insert attached to the side walls (6). The side walls (6) are L-shaped and the insert is attached to the shorter limb (7) of the L, near where the hinge axes (4) are located. The axes (4) can move during opening and closing of the tool to allow for the extension or compression of the elastic insert. Preferably the hinge axes for the sides (6)are formed by bolts (4) which can slide in circular arc shaped slots (5) as the mould is opened or closed by an actuator (11) acting through a locking linkage (12,13). The travel of the sides (6) is limited by adjustable stops (15). The action is combined with the movement of a mould stamp and displacer for moulding multiple layer soles and the attachment of uppers.
