Voice signal discrimination apparatus for telephone connection

The apparatus includes a signal discrimination unit (2) which identifies an input signal (S16) either as voice or as data. The result of the identification is provided as a discrimination output (S2). A detection unit (12) inspects whether the input signal includes a certain frequency signal and outputs a detection result (S12). A reset signal based on the detection result is provided to the signal discrimination unit. If the frequency signal is detected the discrimination state is reset first to voice (RV) and then set to data (RD). Preferably, a detection unit which detects a 2100 Hz signal and a detection unit which detects a 1100 Hz signal are provided.
