PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To substitute a continuous character string in a single substitute process by substituting a continuous character string for another in the document data. SOLUTION: The text data are inputted to a substitute mode selection means 1-4 from an input means 1-2, and a continuous substitute mode is selected via a setting operation of the means 1-4. In such cases, a continuity definition means 1-5 checks the continuity definition. Based on this definition, a retrieval means 1-10 retrieves the characters to be substituted out of the editing data. Then, a continuous character string substitute means 1-9 substitutes a continuous character for another. As a result, a continuous character string can be substituted in a single substitute process and thereby a smooth operation environment is obtained. |
