摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a laser beam from ultraviolet region to ultraviolet region, which is wide in transparent region to a wavelength of incident laser beam, easy in the manufacture of a good quality large crystal, excellent in workability, small in deliquescence and excellent in handling property. SOLUTION: A wavelength transforming element 30 is constituted of lithium tetraborate (Li2 B4 O7 ). And a short wave laser device 100 is provided with the wavelength transforming element 30 constituted of lithium tetraborate and irradiates with the laser having a prescribed angle from the optical axis (c axis) of the lithium tetraborate single crystal and a prescribed wavelength from an optical Nd:YAG laser 10. On the other hand, the wavelength transforming element 30 is irradiated with the laser beam through a half mirror 40 from a secondary light source 20 constitute of a wavelength transforming element composed of Nd-YAG andβ-BaB2 O4 (BBO) single crystal and/or lithium tetraborate. Both irradiating laser beams are passed through the wavelength transforming element 30 to sum frequency and is transformed to a short wave laser beam.
