PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery with high capacity, excellent high rate discharging characteristics, and high safety even at high temperature. SOLUTION: This positive active material of a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery is lithium cobaltate represented by LiCoO2 having a mean particle size of 5μm or more but 25μm or less, a molar ratio of Co to Li of 0.96-1,04, and a half band width of diffraction peak in (003) planes as determined by powder X-ray diffraction using CuK α rays of 0.15-0.18 degrees. |
