PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To dissolve the unstable condition of a lamp and improve the output efficiency of light. SOLUTION: A lamp mainbody 6 filled with discharge medium, a high frequency power conversion circuit 3 to convert a DC power source into high frequency power and an exciting coil 5 are provided, so that high frequency power from the high frequency power conversion circuit 3 can be supplied into the lamp mainbody 6 via the exciting coil 5 to induce and joint the exciting coil 5 to the discharge medium in the lamp mainbody 6 for electrodeless discharge. At the front stage of the high frequency power conversion circuit 3, a variable voltage DC source 7 as a partially smoothing means is provided, so that DC power in a partially smoothed waveform with a smoothing factor timingly changed can be generated and supplied to the high frequency power conversion circuit 3 to form high frequency power. |
