Coil mounting on IC engine

The coil is mounted onto studding (6) in the cylinder head (1) using a sprung insert sleeve (16) pressed into the mounting hole in the coil support (8). The sleeve is made from spring metal and is shaped to grip the studding. The ends of the sleeve are rolled over into grip flanges (22,23) to secure the axial location in the mounting hole. The grip sleeve is made from flat strip with the grip tags pressed from the strip. The strip is cut into lengths and rolled into the sleeve shapes. The sleeve has a c-shaped profile. The coil mounting is simply pressed axially onto the studding.
