Central locking for office furniture e.g. cabinet and doors

The furniture item, or door, is fitted with a slider mechanism to lock and unlock. The slider has a solenoid which has a spring loaded catch (6) to lock into a hole in the slider. The catch is pulled back by the solenoid. The security system uses a chip card to release a set of authorised locks eg. a set of cabinets in an office. The solenoid catch extends through a reinforcing plate (3) which prevents forcing of the catch. The solenoid is mounted to the inside of the slider assembly and is connected to the central locking system by simple wiring.
