<p>The present invention relates to a CNS neuronal antigen which functions in neuron-glia interaction key to CNS brain development, including glial-guided migration. This antigen acts as a novel signaling molecule that is expressed in newly generated neurons in the developing brain, and the deduced amino acid sequence of which reveals a novel secondary structure containing three EGF and two fibronectin type III repeats. The invention also relates to the nucleic acids encoding the neuronal antigen, and to antibodies directed to the antigen, and antisense nucleic acids and ribozymes directed to the nucleic acids. Also contemplated are diagnostic materials and therapeutic compositions, and corresponding methods, that may comprise or be derived from the nucleic acids, the antigen, and antibodies, antisense molecules and ribozymes directed thereto.</p> |
