Combined-method for large two-stroke diesel engines with cross heads

The method involves coupling together two cylinders by a buffer store (5) for hot exhaust gas and the first cylinder acts as a standard large two stroke diesel engine to produce hot exhaust gases for the buffer store. Air is substituted by hot exhaust gas from the buffer storage, and fuel is substituted by water. The injected water is condensed again after evaporation and separated from the exhaust gas in the separator (9) for re-injection. The exhaust gas is cleaned of noxious substances. The two cylinders may be replaced by a double-acting two-stroke cylinder working from one side as two-stroke diesel and from the other as two-stroke steam cylinder.
