Head positioning error compensation in hard disk drive

The method involves controlling a hard disk drive which includes a digital signal processor programmed with a feedback control algorithm and a repetition control algorithm. The method includes the step of preserving the data of position error signals according to the sectors which are recorded along a certain track, in a track following mode. The PES data are sequentially stored in a table. The correction values for a repeating follow-up error are determined through processing of the PES data for the corresponding sector, and the PES data for the preceding and the following sectors. These are read from the table, and through the feedback control algorithm and the repetition control algorithm in the next, following period of the corresponding track.
