<p>A bicycle suspension comprises a pair of support members (24, 26) which bolt onto the cycle frame at the wheel dropout brackets (22) and the brake pivot pins (28). A pair of wheel brackets (42, 44) are provided to which the bicycle wheel (18) is mounted, the wheel brackets (42, 44) being mounted for sliding movement relative to the support members (24, 26) by respective pins (46) movable in guide slots (30). Spring elements (88, 90 and 92) are located between the wheel brackets (42, 44) and support members (24, 26), so that movement of the wheel (18) compresses the springs (88, 90 and 92). The path of movement of the wheel (18) relative to the cycle frame is determined by the shape and orientation of the guide slots (30). The suspension can be retro-fitted to an existing bicycle, but can also be built into a new bicycle.</p> |
