PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a sesquiterpene-based compound useful as a raw material for a medicine, especially an antibacterial agent or an antifungal agent. SOLUTION: This sesquiterpene-based compound is shown by formula I (R is H, ammonium, an alkali metal or a lower alkyl) or formula II. The compound is obtained by finely cutting the fruit body of Roseofomes subflexibilis Aoshi as a mushroom of the family Polyporaceae, immersing the fruit body in acetone, ethyl acetate or a lower alcohol at room temperature for 1-3 days to give an extracted essence, concentrating the essence under reduced pressured suspending a viscous residue in water, extracting the suspension with ethyl acetate and purifying the extract by silica gel chromatography, preparative thin-layer chromatography, high-performance liquid chromatography, etc. |
