PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device of low cost constituent components and improve the ease of handling when the components are replaced for servicing by providing a recovery means for maintaining an ink discharge from a recording means in a good condition and at the same time, arranging a storage means for a waste ink to be discharged from the recovery means in such a manner that the storage means is detachable from the recording means. SOLUTION: Dust accumulated in the liquid path of a recording head 4 is removed from the liquid path by sucking ink from a cap 303 at an atmospheric pressure for suction generated by a suction pump 302 which actuates the shuttle motion of a piston 301 in a suction recovery operation. A waste ink is discharged from a discharge aperture 302 and is held in a waste ink storage means 50 arranged below a recovery device 3. In addition, a fixing claw 100a for fixing the waste ink storage means 50 almost completely in a snap-fit fashion is provided on a lower case 100. The waste ink storage means 50 is positioned by engaging the claw 100a with a fixing protrusion part 501b provided on an ink case 501, and is easily detached by removing the fixing claw 100a while supporting a handling retainer part. |
