摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject fluorescent substance, capable of providing excellent adhesive strength characteristics and improving the grade of the fluorescent surface and useful as a high-definition television, etc., by sticking a granular silica and a chain silica together to the surface thereof in a surface treating step for the fluorescent substance. SOLUTION: This fluorescent substance is obtained by making (A) a granular silica and (B) a chain silica together stick to the surface of a fluorescent substance. The component B preferably has the shape of 5-20mμm width and 40-300mμm length as primary particles and the component B in an amount of preferably 1×10-4 to 5×10<-1> wt.%, more preferably 1×10-3 to 2×10<-1> wt.% based on the fluorescent substance is made to stick thereto. Both (C) silica and (D) vinyltriethoxysilane may stick together to the surface of the fluorescent substance. The component D in an amount of preferably 1×10-5 to 5×10<-1> wt.% based on the fluorescent substance is made to stick thereto.
