摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a reinforcing material for FRM having high strength, furthermore excellent in wear resistance, moreover high in thermal conductivity and showing excellent characteristics as a using member at a high temp. SOLUTION: This high thermal conductivity hybrid fiber for FRM is the one obtd. by uniformly mixing the fibers or particles of aluminum nitride and silica-alumina fibers having nitride surface layers. It is produced in such a manner that a mixture obtd. by mixing fibrous or granularγ-alumina or the precursory thereof and silica-alumina fibers is subjected to heating treatment at 1,200 to 1,600 deg.C in an atmosphere of gaseous ammonia contg. <=30vol.% gaseous hydrocarbon to formγ-alumina into aluminum nitride, and furthermore, the surfaces of the silica-alumina fibers are subjected to nitriding treatment.
