The plane door (1) is provided with a decorative assembly (2) consisting of a decorative panel (3) surrounded by a moulding (4). The moulding has grooves which engage in the panel peripheral border. The transformation process comprises fixing to one of the main surfaces (7) of the door a decorative panel and a moulding to form the decorative assembly. A complementary stage consists in providing certain zones of the door, not to be covered by the decorative assembly, with a decorative veneer (8).
