The invention concerns the technical sector of optimization of industrial production, and especially of productivity. The general concept of the invention is the identification of the malfunction that is truly responsible for the stoppage of a machine production line, and the introduction of this specific variable into the man-machine interface for the handling of malfunctions. The true cause of a given breakdown is thus identified and can be acted upon, instead of acting upon secondary breakdowns down the line; the management of productivity is thereby very noticeably improved.
