The method for contacting and scanning includes measuring the accelerations occurring with the scanning operation by the action of the movable structures (3,5,6) of the coordinate measuring unit (1). The measured acceleration values are supplied to the measuring unit regulating structure and the drive or drives of the coordinate measuring unit are regulated in such a manner that the contact and/or scanning operation results free of vibration. The speeds and/or differential speeds between two components and/or transmission moments between two components, occurring with a scanning operation by the action of the movable structures of the coordinate measuring unit, are measured. The results are supplied to the measuring unit regulating structure. The drive or drives of the coordinate measuring unit are regulated by the measuring unit regulating structure, so that the contact or scanning operation results free of vibration.
