Piezoceramic flexural transducer

The transducer has a passive base layer (1) supporting an active piezoelectric material layer (2) which is provided with electrodes (8,9) for voltage input or voltage output. The active layer contains electromechanically active fibres (6), and the electrodes are positioned so that the electrical field is aligned parallel to these active fibres, with the electrodes applied by silk-screen printing using a two-stage curable binder system. The electrodes are provided with interdigitated fingers and applied to the opposing surfaces of the active layer.
