Three-stage safety switch for controlling technical devices e.g. robot control devices

The safety switch actuates at least one electric closure contact with an off position, an on position and a panic off position. The switch is particularly for hand programming devices with an actuator element with external actuator surfaces. The switch has an outer cover frame housing (3) which has a collar running around the actuator element (4). The device also has a transfer element (15). The cover frame housing (3) and the actuator element (4) can move independent of each other between the off position and the panic position. The housing (3) has a pick-up (11) to move the housing (3) in the direction from the switch off position into the on and panic positions by the actuator element (4). In the on position the actuator surface (5) of the actuator element (4) takes up a lower position than the upper collar edge of the housing.
