The air-water heat-pump (3) is connected to the hot-water circuit of the heating system. The pump is supplied with the stale air via a central pipe (5) connected to mechanical extractor units (8) delivering at fixed and variable rates. Fresh ambient air flows in at fixed and variable rates via inlets (10) in the outside walls. A second fan (4) either incorporated in the pump or separate draws air in and discharges the cooled stale air via a pipe (1) and a cowl (14) to atmosphere. The pump can be mounted in a central position, typically in the cellar or attic.
