The rotor includes a yoke which is formed by laminating many steel sheets so as to provide an even number of magnetic poles projected externally and slots provided in each of or every other said magnetic poles, a permanent magnet for a field inserted in each of said slots and having top, bottom, front, rear, and side faces, and protuberances provided on opposite sides of said slots and brought into contact with the side faces of said permanent magnet for the field, forming spaces on opposite sides of said slots.
