PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To deal with plural objects in different distances as well by arbitrarily adjusting the distance from a viewpoint to the object to be focused in the case of preparing a synthetic image. SOLUTION: For each partial image 32 corresponding to a longitudinal component, a glance vector can be determined by a correspondent area 33 on a projection plane 7. In this case, a partial image 27 of an input image 1 having the glance vector regarded as the same image as each partial image 32 of a synthetic image 4 is retrieved and its contents are transferred so that the synthetic image 4 can be generated. In the process of repetition of this synthesizing processing, a distance D to be exactly expressed is interactively suitably changed from the position of a viewpoint 5 of the synthetic image 4 while referring to the synthetic image 4, and a concerned object 15 is matched with an optimum value. The adjustment of the distance D becomes an operation just similar to the focusing of a camera. Thus, the synthetic image 4 exactly expressing the object 15 can be generated.
