The support comprises a cradle (11) having a wheel housing corresponding to half the wheel (5). The cradle can slide between a first fixing position in the vehicle rear, a second position disengaged from the boot and a third wheel extraction position. The cradle is displaced by means of a rail (20) located in the rear of the vehicle and rollers running on the rail and mounted on a plate fixed to the cradle. The rail comprises a first part (20a) extending from the middle to one side of the vehicle. A second portion extends from a side part and a third portion (20c) is inclined downwards and extends from the middle to the other side of the vehicle. The second rail portion is pivoted to the first portion and can be displaced between a folded down position on the vehicle side and a folded down position on the first rail portion.
