Method and apparatus for stacking and accumulating bags

An apparatus for stacking and accumulating bags is disclosed. The stacker includes three sets of fingers (226, 227 and 229). One set of fingers are prestacking fingers and the other two sets are stacking fingers. The distance the prestacking fingers travel to get into a stacking position, from a rest position, is relatively short. The stacking fingers travel a single path, that is different from the path the prestacking fingers travel. <IMAGE>
