PURPOSE:To obtain polymer particles having narrow particle size distribution, by adding a polymer dispersant to a hydrophilic organic liquid, adding a vinyl monomer to the mixture to polymerize seed particle and adding a specific vinyl monomer during or after the polymerization process to effect the growth of the seed particle. CONSTITUTION:A hydrophilic organic liquid (e.g. methyl alcohol or 3-pentanol) is added with a polymer dispersant soluble in said organic liquid (e.g. acrylic acid or vinyl acetate) and further added with one or more vinyl monomers (e.g. styrene or methyl acrylate) soluble in said organic liquid and giving a polymer swelling with or hardly soluble in said organic liquid. After or in the course of the above seed particle polymerization process, the dispersion liquid of seed particle is added with a vinyl monomer diluted with the above hydrophilic organic liquid or other hydrophilic organic liquid to effect the growth of the seed particle and obtain the objective polymer particles. |
