EDGE PICTURE PROCESSOR AND ITS METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a picture of which edge part is suitably emphasized in accordance with an object included in the picture or a purpose. SOLUTION: When the edge picture processor is provided with an area extracting means 101 for preparing area data to be information related to an area constituting an input picture, an edge processing means 102 for executing edge extraction processing for the input picture by referring to the area data and preparing edge data to be the edge extraction processing result of each area and an area integrating means 103 for integrating respective edge data and preparing edge-emphasized picture corresponding to the input picture, different edge extraction processing is executed in each of plural areas constituting an input picture. Consequently the processor can flexibly correspond to such a detailed request that edges are extracted especially finely in a certain part of an input picture and roughly in another part.
