PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate practical construction of monolithic refractory excellent in spalling resistance by specifying dependence of elastic modulus at ambient temperature on temperature in a prescribed monolithic refractory. SOLUTION: This monolithic refractory is obtained by using a refractory raw material selected from a group selected from alumina-based, alumina-spinel- based, alumina-magnesia-based, magnesia-based raw materials and a curing agent as main raw materials and kneading the material with water and executing the kneaded product. In the refractory, dependence of elastic modulus at ambient temperature on temperature is >=1,500kg/cm<2> . deg.C. Since a monolithic refractory is used without baking, densification and the change of mineral phase are produced during use and the gradient of physical property corresponding to temperature gradient from operating face to the rear face is formed and the gradient often causes structural spalling. Therefore, structural spalling resistance can be improved by controlling dependence of elastic modulus on temperature. Refractory powder amount having <=10μm particle diameter and contained in the refractory raw material is set to <=15wt.%. |
