The refrigerator has an adjuster for the temperature inside (16,20) operating by controlling the running time of the compressor (12). There is a timing unit (44) which is activated or deactivated to switch on or off the compressor for a preset time. One temperature sensor (34) measures the compartment temperature and another, that at the evaporator (38). The timing unit works in accordance with these temperatures and/or the measured compartment humidity, the number of times the door is opened and/or the number of compressor control cycles. The evaporator is located so that an air passage runs between it and the inner back wall of the compartment.
