Acceleration switch esp. for triggering motor vehicle occupant restraint system

The acceleration switch has an inertial mass (3) with a magnet (4) movable in a housing (2) and a contact carrier unit (15) mounted so that the magnet's field interacts with it. The inertial mass has a bearing journal (12) with which it is movably mounted on the housing floor. The housing floor has a bearing cup (7) as a support for the bearing journal at this point on the floor. The directional sensitivity wrt. a deceleration is determined by the shape of the bearing cup.
