<p>A porous material for absorption of aqueous body fluids comprising superabsorbent polymer, which can swell upon absorption of aqueous liquids, and which forms a porous structure having a surface-to-mass ratio of at least 0.2 m2/g, characterized in that the pores of said porous structure are collapsed to less than a third of their expanded volume prior upon wetting with said aqueous body liquids; and in that the pores expand upon wetting with aqueous liquids. The collapsed material can be in particulate or in a sheet-like form.</p> |
