METHOD FOR DECREASING DECOMPOSITION RATE OF SOIL-DECOMPOSABLE CONTINUOUS MULTIFILAMENT FIBER FOR REINFORCING VEGETATION BLOCK

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for decreasing the decomposition rate of reinforcing fibers so that the fibers do not decompose until the growth of vegetation proceeds in an established vegetation block to an extent enabling the root system to maintain the physical strengths of the block. SOLUTION: This method, for decreasing the decomposition rate of soil- decomposable continuous multifilament fibers while maintaining the multifilament nature, decreases the decompsability of the fibers by coating each fulament of the fibers with an alkylene oxide resin by a method including the step of treating the fibers with a soln. of the resin and the step of drying the coated fibers to prevent each coated filament from bonding to each other to form a monofilament.
