PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a food product and medicinal composition which contains isodonis herba (or its extract), has an action to reduce the total cholesterol in blood, triglyceride in blood, β-lipoprotein in blood and phospholipid in blood, thus is useful for prevention of arteriosclersos with high safety and efficacy. SOLUTION: This composition contains an isodonis herba, for example, Isodon japonicus Hara, itself, or its extract prepared by extraction of the plant with an organic solvent, for example, methanol or ethanol. The dose of the extract preferably ranges from 1 to 200mg/kg body weight/day. |
