The ultrasonic transmitter and receiver are mounted in a casing that also contains a rotating magnet cooperating with a fixed vertical axle, about which the casing can rotate, and a switch for supplying electricity to the magnet in order to cause an oscillating rotational movement of the casing. An obstacle such as a wall will reflect the emitted ultrasound pulses, which are then detected by the receiver and converted into long wave current pulses which are sent to a device that emits a warning signal.
