The Venturi shaft (1) has end (4) and side walls. The shape and arrangement of the end walls, together with the flat side walls starting from a bottom, side inlet (2), forms an upward-sloping Venturi shaft leading into a vertical distributor shaft (7) widening out towards the burner plate (3). The inlet defined by the end and side walls possesses a square or oblong cross-section for one or more nozzles (6) of a gas-distributor pipe (5).
