PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a catalyst for decomposition of NOx in exhaust gas which can be regenerated and has a high NOx decomposition rate after regeneration and exhibits excellent durabiluty and an apparatus for clarification of the exhaust gas of the internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: This catalyst for decomposition of NOx is constituted of a brownmillerite type compd., a perovskite type compd. contg. at least two kinds selected from among elements constituting the grownmillerite type compd., at least one carbonate selected from among the elements constituting the brownmillerite type compd. and at least one oxide selected from among the elements constituting the brownmillerite type compd.
