PURPOSE: To produce the subject ester useful as the raw material for resin, etc., in high yield and selectivity on an industrial scale at a low cost by using a specific microporous material as a catalyst. CONSTITUTION: The objective ester of formula I [R<1> is a 1-10C alkyl, a 3-10C cycloalkyl or a 7-10C arylalkyl; R<2> is a (substituted) aryl] is obtained through the process of the ester interchange reaction of (B) an aliphatic carboxylic acid ester of formula II (R<3> is same as<1> ) with (C) a hydroxy compound of formula III in the presence of (A) a heterogeneous catalyst consisting of a microporous material containing a group IV metal element in a liquid phase. Further, metallosilicate (crystalline titanosilicate), metalloaluminosilicate or metal loaluminophosphate (crystalline titanoaluminophosphate) is preferably used in the component A. |
