A composition for dyeing keratin fibres, particularly human hair, consisting of a medium suitable for use in dyeing and containing, as the coupler, at least one compound of formula (I), wherein R1 is particularly hydrogen, alkyl, aryl, a heterocyclic ring, halogen, etc., R2 is particularly hydrogen, halogen, aryloxy, alkoxy, acyloxy, arylthio, alkylthio, heteroarylthio, heteroaryloxy, etc., and each of Za, Zb and Zc, which are the same or different, is a nitrogen atom or a carbon with a radical R3 or R4 having the same meaning as R1, where at least one of Za, Zb and Zc is a nitrogen atom and R3 and R4 may together form an optionally substituted aromatic ring, as well as at least one oxidation base, is disclosed.
