The spreader has a metering unit (23) mounted at the bottom of the hopper (2). Below it is an impeller disc with blades which is fixed to a driving shaft (14,18). At the top end of the latter is a bayonet coupling to a stirring member inside the hopper, the unit being detachable from the latter. The driving shaft ends below the bottom (22) of the metering unit, which can be removed from the hopper without removal of the latter, and also refitted. It is also easily accessible. The unit can be centred by the driving shaft, and can have a metering plate (9) with one or more outlets (10) whose free cross-section is adjusted by a slide (11) detachable from the plate. The slide can be spring-loaded (37) against the plate.
