Substrate for germinating and cultivating plants

The substrate comprises a damp carrier material (4) in loose or granular form and a layer of bonding agent which sticks to the carrier material and hardens. The carrier material is preferably granulated or a binding agent foam. The binding agent can be gypsum or cement. The carrier material can be a mixture of two or more materials. After bonding the substrate can have a substantially loose particle form.
