The system has a meter to display the frequency of use to recognise the state or wear on the key and/or on moving parts of the lock cylinder. The key has a multi-layer construction, the individual layers being distinct optically. The cylinder core is the same. On the key is a contact zone (7) which operates a switch (6). The switch works together with a memory chip (5), the chip activating the display (1) if a given frequency of use is reached. There are other LEDs (2,3) also activated by the chip. There is also a numeric display for the frequency. The lock cylinder also works together with a numeric display.
