PURPOSE:To improve the effective availability of metal hydride by switching the flow directions of a medium in a medium passage, and thereby uniformizing the reversible reaction of the metal hydride. CONSTITUTION:Cooling water is introduced into a working engine E to cool the engine, and the heated cooling water is introduced into a fluid circulating passage 2. When an electromagnetic selector valve 9 is set at position (a), the water flows in direction of the arrow P, branches at point 20 into branch pipelines 2a and 2b, and is introduced into containers 3. Consequently, the metal hydride packed in the container 3 is heated to discharge gaseous H2. Both water flows are joined at point 21, and the water is then allowed to flow in direction of the arrow Q and returned to the engine E as cooling water. Meanwhile, the gaseous H2 generated in the container 3 is stored in a cylinder 8 through pipelines 4 and 6, and then supplied to the engine E via a pressure reducing valve 12 and a regulator 13. When the temp. of hot water is lowered, the valve 9 is set at position (b), and hence the hot water is introduced into the container 3 from a supply line shown by the arrow Pa through point 21 and the branch pipelines 2a and 2b to generate gaseous H2, then sent in direction of the arrow Qa through point 21, and returned to the engine E via the selector valve 9. |
