A method for spatial filtering of noise in a digital image includes localization of an instantaneous pixel [P0(x0,y0)] having a noisy intensity [I0(x0,y0)], definition of a sliding window [WD(x0,y0)] centered around the instantaneous pixel, selection of a fixed or random number (N), of oriented random elementary filters [F1, F2, . . . FN] having an axis of orientation [P0Z1, P0Z2, . . . , P0ZN] which passes through said instantaneous pixel, and having characteristics, at least one of which is random, including: an orientation angle [ theta 1, theta 2, . . . theta N] between the axis of orientation and a reference axis (OX), and a support size which is defined as a number of pixels, combination of the intensities of the pixels on the supports of the elementary filters individually in order to produce elementary intensities, and combination of the elementary intensities in order to produce a filtered intensity [R0(x0,y0)] to be applied to the instantaneous pixel. An image processing device carries out this method.
