PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a moving object to be identified simply and stably without depending upon the shape information of the moving object by identifying the moving object based on the movement information detected from a time series image. SOLUTION: In a time series image storage unit 1, the road area in the advancing direction of an automobile is imaged, and the acquired image is output as an time-series image to a movement information detection unit 2. In the movement information detection unit 2, the time-series image is converted to the digital signal, and the movement information existing in each local area is detected as a unit of local areas. In a moving object area extraction unit 3, based on the movement information detected in the movement information detection unit 2, an area in which the moving object is project during an image is extracted. In a moving object identification unit 4, based on the extraction results of the moving object, the inside of the area in which the moving object is extracted or the movement information including the neighboring area thereof is analyzed, and whether or not the moving object is targeted to be identified is judged. |
