PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain polyester fiber for paper making that has a specified or less interfibrous friction coefficient in wet condition, and a specified or less ratio of the interfibrous friction coefficient in wet condition to that in dry condition, causes less scattering of fluff, and has sufficient dispersibility in water, and excellent homogeneity and feeling. SOLUTION: This polyester fiber for paper making having an interfibrous friction coefficient in wet condition (μW) satisfying an equationμW<=0.2, and a ratio ofμW to the interfibrous friction coefficient in dry condition (μD) satisfying an equationμW/μD<=0.7 comprises a polyalkylene glycol (derivative) having a number-average molecular weight ranging from 5×10<4> to 1.5×10<6> or a polyacrylamide (derivative) having a number-average molecular weight ranging from 5×10<4> to 1.5×10<6> which is bonded to the polyester fiber preferably in a quantity of 0.1-2.0% (to fiber weight). |
