PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate a work for editing a picture by arraying a read picture against a reference positions, correctly arranging the positions of the respective pictures at the time of combining the plural pictures and arranging the plural pictures in an easy reading state. SOLUTION: Run length data indicating the number of continuous bits of black and white data concerning the respective lines of the read picture in a Y-direction is generated(s1), the inclinations θof character strings are calculated(s2-s5) based on longest white data after first black data in the run length data of the respective lines and picture data is rotated so as to correct the inclinations(s6). Thereafter, data is added(s7-s10) at every line concerning an X-direction and a Y-direction, the position of a punctuation mark in a character area is discriminated(s11) and the whole picture is rotated so as to permit the punctuation mark in one character area to be positioned at a right upper part so that picture data is arranged(s12-s18) in a proper state. |
