PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing hydrogen in higher efficiency by subjecting hydrogen-productive photosynthetic bacteria to gene recombination operation. SOLUTION: Hydrogen-productive photosynthetic bacteria capable of expressing protein, having a structural gene group coding protein aggregates capable of forming photosynthetic organs and a promoter controlling transcription of the structural gene group onto a mRNA, is subjected to gene recombination operation, and hydrogen is produced by using the resultant photosynthetic bacteria. In this method for producing hydrogen, the gene recombination operation is conducted in such a way that a fragment provided with an enzyme- binding sequence portion bindable to mRNA synthase to be bound to the promoter is inserted into the bacteria and a vector free from the structural gene group is transduced into the original bacteria in advance. |
